Proof of License

Proof of a specialty license is required as part of an application for Fellowship by a candidate who passed the Fellowship Examination. Depending on the rules in a candidate’s jurisdiction, proof of licensure may be submitted as one of the following:

For jurisdictions that do not issue specialty licenses

  • a letter confirming that the candidate holds a general license, and that they can practice their specialty with this license
    • this letter must be sent from the licensing organisation directly to membership@rcdc.ca using an official email address

For jurisdictions that require a specialty license

  • a copy of the specialty license, which can be verified online by RCDC staff

If the license cannot be verified online, we instead require:

  • a letter from the regulator/licensing body confirming that the candidate is licensed to practice their specialty in this jurisdiction
    • this letter must be sent from the licensing organisation directly to membership@rcdc.ca using an official email address

If the jurisdiction requires a specialty license but the candidate is not yet able to obtain one (e.g.: due to NDSE deadlines, or because RCDC Fellowship will be used to obtain the license), please follow this procedure:

  1. submit any current active dental license (e.g.: student license, general license)
  2. within 1 year, submit proof of a specialty license
    • i.e.: candidates who become Fellows at the 2024 Convocation must submit proof of a specialty license by August 1, 2025
    • if proof of a specialty license is not submitted by the deadline, Fellowship will be revoked

Please reach out to membership@rcdc.ca for any questions regarding the submission of the proof of licensure.
