The last 5 years has seen tremendous change in the high stakes assessment landscape. Since March 2020, organizations involved in assessments have been forced to adapt to this landscape and adopt new strategies and expedite change initiatives to meet the needs of both the Regulators and the candidates. Most recently AI has begun to permeate the assessment landscape, with far-reaching applications as the next significant industry disruptor. Gaining a deeper understanding and learning from the experience of other assessment organizations could prove to be extremely beneficial.

Existing networks, have mandates to support knowledge transfer and cross pollination between organizations but have a scope which focuses primarily on the American landscape with heavy involvement of vendors that support test development and delivery. This leaves a gap for Canadian assessment organizations that desire to fully experience of the benefits knowledge transfer between organizations.

It is with these sets of drivers in mind that The Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) is proposing the establishment of a Canadian network for assessment professionals.

Network Activity:

One of the primary objectives of the network for year one would be to establish the foundation of the network for future years. This will involve the implementation of a knowledge sharing and collaboration conference involving the following format:

• 1 day event – November 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Hosted in Ottawa – Location to be announced in August
• An industry keynote speaker
• AM: Presentations from each of the invited organizations on the applications of AI within their context.
• PM: World café format – hot topics in assessment.
• Discussion on the future objectives of the Canadian Assessment Network.
• Networking cocktail reception (4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
