Awards and Recognitions

The Royal College of Dentists of Canada’s mission is to be a globally recognized leader in dental specialties through assessing competencies as part of the licensing process, advancing excellence, and promoting Fellowship. The mission would not be accomplished without the commitment and contributions of Fellows and Members. RCDC’s awards is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate excellence in the dental specialties and the contributions to the profession of exceptional Fellows and members. The awards of excellence reinforce the values of the College.

RCDC is proud to recognize outstanding members for their achievements in the following award categories.

This award was established in September 2015 and the purpose of the award is to recognize Fellows who embody the qualities for which Dr. Precious was known and well respected, such as outstanding leadership within the College and significant contributions to dental specialty practice and education.

D. S. Precious Memorial Award is the highest honour award that the College can bestow and can be given only when a deserving candidate is identified. That individual would be a Fellow of the College and display the characteristics that Dr. Precious embodied – be involved in education, humanitarian pursuits, and organized dentistry, as well as being involved in the larger community.

Due to the distinctive and special nature of this award, it may not be conferred every year.

If you believe someone deserves recognition for their outstanding service and commitment, do not hesitate to submit a nomination through this link and help us acknowledge the important gems within RCDC’s Fellowship.

Honourary Fellowship is conferred to individuals, dental specialist or not, who have contributed in a significant matter to the dental profession or the dental community at large over a considerable amount of time.

To date, 17 Honourary Fellowships have been awarded. Recipients are able to use the FRCDC(Hons) designation but are not considered voting members of the College.

If you know someone whose remarkable accomplishments deserve to be celebrated and acknowledged with an Honourary Fellowship, submit a nomination here so the College can pay tribute to those whose legacy continues to inspire and elevate the Fellowship.

The Distinguished Service Award was established to recognize outgoing senior RCDC leaders. These include outgoing Examiners-in-Chief, Presidents, Registrars, and Board Chairs.

The Merit Award is given to a Fellow or Member who has served and made significant contributions to the College in a governing capacity, on a board committee or the examination team.

The recipient must be nominated by a current Fellow or Member.
